Krol Corlett reinforces commitment to excellence in the higher education sector

Our dedicated team are delighted to return to Liverpool John Moores University, this time focusing on the 1960’s James Parsons built, single largest building belonging to Liverpool John Moores University – situated on Byrom Street campus in the heart of Liverpool City Centre.

Leveraging our extensive experience and expertise in the education sector, we are well into this 13 week program and efficiently delivering all on schedule and budget.

The project symbolises LJMU’s dedication to improving teaching capabilities and the academic environment for all at the university.

The scheme spans four concurrent workstreams, involving the extensive modernisation, refurbishment and strip-out of the following areas:

    • Student Centre
    • Staff Lounge
    • Pharmacy Refit
    • FET Staff Offices & Workshop

 Comprehensive works encompass:

    • Creation of new meeting rooms
    • Erection of partition walls
    • Finishing of floors, walls, and ceilings
    • Upgrades to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems
    • Replacement of windows
    • Asbestos removal

 Environmental challenges;

    • Logistical Restrictions: The distribution of materials is logistically challenging, requiring careful planning and coordination to ensure efficient delivery and storage.
    • Live Environment: Construction is taking place in a live university environment, with both staff and students present on site. This necessitates meticulous planning and preparation to minimize disruption and ensure safety.

Project Manager, Craig Smallshaw said;

 “It is a privilege collaborating with the University for this scheme. Krol Corlett expertise in handling complex projects in live environments ensures we are well-equipped to navigate these constraints effectively. Our team are dedicated to maintaining a high standard of safety and minimizing disruption to the university’s daily operations”
