In April, members of the Krol Corlett team took part in Nugent’s annual Sleep Out, joining dozens of others in braving the elements for a powerful cause. The event is designed to raise both awareness and much-needed funds to support those experiencing homelessness across our region—a crisis that continues to affect far too many lives.

This year marked our fourth consecutive year as proud sponsors of this incredible initiative, and each year, our involvement feels more meaningful than the last. Supporting Nugent’s mission to deliver life-changing services, shelter, and hope to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities is something that aligns deeply with our values as a business and as individuals.

A Powerful Night With Purpose

Throughout the night, we heard from several powerful speakers who reminded us exactly why this cause matters. From real stories of lived experience to the incredible efforts of those working on the frontlines of homelessness services, each voice painted a moving picture of both the challenges faced and the hope that still remains.

Though temperatures dropped and the ground beneath us felt unforgiving, spirits stayed high. For just one night, we shared a small glimpse into what many individuals in our communities endure regularly often alone, and often without support. It was a humbling experience, and one we won’t forget.

More Than Just a Fundraiser

Events like Nugent’s Sleep Out aren’t just about raising money—they’re about starting conversations, challenging assumptions, and uniting people and organisations behind a shared vision of compassion and change. They create space for deeper understanding, inviting participants to confront the realities of homelessness—not as distant statistics, but as urgent human stories that deserve attention, empathy, and action.

The strength of the community around this event was truly inspiring. From volunteers and speakers to sponsors and first-time participants, there was a real sense of collective purpose.
