We’re proud to have recently completed the transformation of part of the former Alder Park facility in Waterloo into a new, dedicated Eating Disorder Day Case Unit for Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

During the construction phase, we were pleased to welcome members of Alder Hey’s Youth Forum to the live site. The visit gave young people the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the running of a live construction site, meet the project team, and play a meaningful role in shaping the space.

Their ideas helped influence key aspects of the unit’s interior, including the final colour scheme ensuring it felt welcoming, calming, and tailored to the needs of those who will use it.

This new facility will offer community-based, day-case support to children and young people living with eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.

With increasing demand for intensive treatment closer to home, the centre will provide a vital alternative to hospital-based care, enabling patients to stay connected to their families, schools, and wider support networks.

At Krol Corlett, we are committed to delivering meaningful social value on every project. Involving young people in this build not only enhanced the final outcome but ensured the voices of future service users were heard and respected throughout.

Our focus on community and collaboration continues to shape how we build – not just for now, but for the future.

We’re proud to have played a part in delivering this important and much-needed facility for Alder Hey and the local community.
