In collaboration with NHS Property Services, Krol Corlett undertook a comprehensive Capital Works Programme totalling £2m across multiple NHS estates. The project included both new build and refurbishment, targeting various live medical and clinical facilities including doctors’ surgeries, clinics, and health centres.
Notable sites included Bolton Pikes Lane Medical Centre, Burscough Medical Centre, Prince Street Medical Centre, North Park Medical Centre, and Morecambe Medical Centre.
Works were executed with meticulous attention to detail, considering the sensitive nature of healthcare environments and the need to minimise disruption to ongoing medical services.
The scope of works covered a number of diverse elements that are crucial for enhancing healthcare infrastructure. This included roof refurbishments and replacements, the creation of new waiting rooms and treatment areas, installation of state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical systems, structural repairs, and the establishment of modern reception and entrance areas.
The team also constructed new treatment rooms and consulting spaces equipped with essential medical gases, aligning with the evolving needs of healthcare delivery.
Operating within live clinical settings required us to be extra cautious about safety. We took this responsibility seriously by thoroughly assessing risks even before construction began. Our top priority was ensuring the safety of everyone involved, including staff, patients, and visitors. We implemented strict protocols such as permit systems for high-risk tasks and conducted regular safety audits both internally and externally to make sure we met the highest safety standards.
To make sure everything ran smoothly, we also put-up clear signs, set up barriers, and created designated pathways for the public. These measures not only kept everyone safe but also made it easier for our team to carry out construction work without causing disruptions to the ongoing operations of the clinics and health centres.
