The project at Rochdale Hospital reflects our commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure, creating modern, efficient, and welcoming spaces for both patients and medical staff.
Our Healthcare team executed with meticulous attention to detail, considering the sensitive nature of healthcare environments and the need to minimise disruption to ongoing medical services.
“The £1.2 million Rochdale Hospital project was a 4-month partnership with MDG Architects, focusing on delivering vital upgrades while also giving back to the community. Our work went beond optimsing and improvements to patient areas, to contributions to the hospital’s garden, and supporting the loca community well-being through a charity support day and student work experience ”.
Alan Hardcastle, Contracts Manager at Krol Corlett Construction.
Extensive updates & Enhancements include:
As the hospital remained fully operational during the refurbishment, we implemented strict safety protocols to protect both patients and staff.
This included isolating construction zones and adopting measures to minimise noise and disruptions, ensuring hospital services continued uninterrupted throughout the project.
Upon completion of the project, Krol Corlett also met with project team members to receive feedback to develop knowledge and understanding of similar sites in the future.
As part of our ongoing efforts to support the community, Krol Corlett were thrilled to work with Northern Care Alliance (NCA), Rochdale Hospital’s official charity contributing to the upkeep and improvements of the communal garden designed for dementia patients, their families and a designated area for staff wellbeing.
More than 500 patients each year enjoy this thoughtfully designed garden, featuring plants that enhance sensory experiences. The garden also includes custom flowerbeds and planters at an ideal height for those in wheelchairs or with limited mobility. Furniture is also painted in dementia-friendly colours to make it easier for patients to see and use.
In addition, we also contributed to the hospital by supporting and sponsoring their annual ‘Reach Out day’ with vunerable children in the local area.
Finally, this scheme was also a valuable opportunity for apprentices, like Joel (see pictured on the site here), to get some much-needed hands-on experience. Part of our ongoing commitment to providing local opportunities.
