Arrowe Park Neonatal – Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Project Scope
The Neonatal Office Refurbishment at Arrowe Park Hospital was a successful two-week project for Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This project had the aim of reverting the use and improving the working environment for the NHS staff involved within this unit. The works involved a comprehensive internal upgrade, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations to ensure all systems met current healthcare standards. The works were continued with the replacement of existing carpets, installation of a new suspended ceilings, and the fitting of new curtain tracks and worktops to develop the overall layout and comfort. In addition to these improvements, new IPS units were installed to provide a hygienic and compliant solution within the office environment.
These alterations helped to convert a conference room into a new functional bedded recovery bay as well as enhancing existing WC’s and utility rooms. Despite the short programme duration, the project was completed efficiently, maintaining strict quality and safety standards throughout. The successful delivery of the refurbishment provided the hospital’s neonatal department with a refreshed, practical, and compliant workspace, supporting staff in delivering vital care services in an improved setting.
Work Completed
Essential works were undertaken to expand and upgrade the existing Intensive Care Unit (ITU), addressing issues with size, layout, and services, and replacing corroded heating pipework in the High Dependency Unit (HDU). The project, delivered in collaboration with Walker Sime, involved structural alterations, new partitions, finishes, M&E installations, and the integration of a redundant theatre space to enhance functionality.
Additionally, a conference room was converted into a new recovery bay, with upgrades to WCs and utility areas. Despite a tight programme, the works were completed efficiently to high quality and safety standards, providing the hospital’s neonatal department with a modern, compliant, and practical environment that supports the delivery of vital care.
