Norman Pannell Primary School – Phase 1-5
Project Scope
Krol Corlett was appointed to deliver the final phase of refurbishment works at Norman Pannell Primary School, enhancing key facilities to support both staff and pupils.
The project involved the complete refurbishment of the school kitchen, including the installation of new catering equipment, upgraded mechanical and ventilation systems, and new finishes throughout – walling, flooring, ceilings, and lighting. In addition, we refurbished the Junior Hall, ancillary areas, and the staff room, creating modern, functional, and welcoming spaces that meet the needs of the school community.
Through careful planning and coordination, the works were delivered within a live school environment, ensuring minimal disruption to daily activities while achieving a high-quality finish across all areas.
Work Completed
Beyond the kitchen, the project also refurbished the Junior Hall, ancillary areas, and staff room, including new vinyl flooring, redecoration, upgraded lighting, and layout reconfiguration to improve functionality. All works were delivered in a live school environment, carefully phased to minimise disruption.

- Ceilings: Suspended ceiling grid with acoustic panels and integrated lighting.
- Lighting: High-efficiency LED systems with motion sensors and zoned controls.
- Wall Finishes: Hygienic cladding in food prep areas; durable painted plaster finishes elsewhere.
Overcoming Challenges
Working within a live school environment required careful planning to ensure safety and minimise disruption to teaching. Although the programme extended into the new academic term, our team phased activities around the school’s operations, maintained clear communication with staff, and implemented strict site controls. This collaborative approach allowed teaching to continue smoothly while we delivered high-quality refurbished facilities.
