Challenges

2024 07 13

The former Tesco store on County Road had long stood as an eyesore, symbolising the area’s decline. Recognising the opportunity to revitalise both the site and the wider community, TJ Morris set out an ambitious plan. The project centred on an 8,000 sq ft extension, taking the store’s footprint to 23,000 sq ft and paving the way for a vibrant new retail destination.

Liverpool City Council acknowledged in the planning application that the vacant unit was in urgent need of refurbishment. To deliver on this vision, Home Bargains appointed Krol Corlett Construction Limited as the principal contractor. Their work was supported by WPL Consulting LLP, Sutcliffe, and a strong supply chain, ensuring the project was completed to the highest standard.

This collaborative effort has transformed a neglected building into a modern retail space, breathing new life into the community and providing essential services for local residents.
