Project Scope
Team KC is delivering a 50-week programme of decarbonisation works and planned preventative maintenance for Chorley Council, protecting the town hall’s historic character while making it more comfortable, efficient and ready for the future.
On the outside of the building, the programme includes re-slating and insulating the Lancastrian Suite roof, restoring the Clock Tower and replacing windows, along with external stonework repairs such as DOFF cleaning, repointing and stone remedials.
Ongoing Works
Externally, we are undertaking the careful restoration of the stonework, including cleaning, repointing and repairs, alongside improvements to the Clock Tower, window replacements and the re-slating and insulation of the Lancastrian Suite roof.
Internally, the team is installing a new air source heat pump system, upgrading electrical distribution boards and lighting, and refurbishing offices, with the programme carefully phased to allow council departments to continue operating throughout.
Progress remains on track, with Team KC working closely with Chorley Council and the wider project team ahead of the planned handover in March 2027.
“We’re close to completing the first phase of works at Chorley Town Hall, and the new slating, windows and façade repairs are looking fantastic.
We’ll shortly be transferring the scaffolding to the front of the building to commence Phase 2, while also beginning the internal refurbishment works. It’s been a pleasure to work with Chorley Borough Council again, and the Town Hall management team have been fantastic to work alongside.
We’re proud to be helping overhaul and improve this important building, carrying out the necessary works to preserve and enhance it for the future. A great project and one we’re looking forward to seeing progress through the next phase.”
Social Value
This project is a great opportunity for us to give back to the Chorley community. We have created two full-time roles for local people, giving them the chance to build their careers on a landmark building in their own town.
Team KC has also given 116 hours of volunteering to the local community, and we are providing a four-week work placement for a local person not in employment or education, offering real on-site experience and a stepping stone into the industry.
We are delighted to be restoring a building that means so much to the people of Chorley.
