Progressing Towards Handover
The 20,000 sq ft, single-storey facility is taking shape on site, with the development incorporating 36 ensuite bedrooms alongside kitchen and laundry facilities and specialist infrastructure to support personal care.
The building has been constructed using traditional brick-and-block methods, with an insulated precast concrete slab and timber truss roof. The completed facility will also include 13 car parking spaces and sensory gardens.
With the project now progressing towards its December handover, the team is continuing to coordinate the remaining construction activities and prepare the facility for Parkhaven Trust to take occupation.
Delivering Within a Live Care Environment
A key consideration throughout the project has been working alongside three existing care facilities, which have remained operational throughout construction.
Careful planning and coordination have been central to maintaining safe access and minimising disruption, while allowing construction to progress just metres away from the operational care environment.
The team has also managed road closures and environmental considerations throughout the programme, ensuring the works continue safely and efficiently.
Creating Opportunities Along the Way
Alongside the construction programme, the project has created opportunities for social value, including an apprentice quantity surveyor, site visits for young people, and mental health and community activities.
The team is now focused on the final stages of the project, working towards the planned December 2026 handover and the next chapter for Parkhaven Trust’s specialist dementia care provision.
