Project Scope & Current Stages
Construction works are progressing well on the development of a new single-storey MV Workshop together with a new two-storey teaching facility (CEM Block) at the 12 Quays campus of Wirral Met College.
CEM Block: This phase of the project is now entering the later stages of construction with the façade construction being progressed concurrently with internal finishes.
MV Workshop: The steel frame is now erected and sub-structure brickwork is complete. Concrete slab currently being poured ahead of façade commencement.
As the project works are well progressed, it is great to see a fantastic learning space starting to take shape for the students and staff of Wirral Met College.
The project has not been without its challenges, however, engagement with the client and design team members has ensured a collaborative approach to resolving project obstacles and formulated an excellent working relationship between all parties.
Social Value
This project has been a key milestone for us as we have been able to deliver an array of social value initiatives, give more high-level experience to Graduate QS, Sam Holbrook as well as apprentices who will be a key part of the labour resource on site.
We are engaged with Wirral Met College to deliver a remembrance garden project which will be designed, cost planned and delivered by college pupils overseen by Team KC.
We have also provided material support for students for the Float Your Boat Challenge earlier this year.
Team KC are delighted to be delivering a facility that will enrich the wider community for years to come.
The teams approach to keeping the project moving whilst being clear, decisive and transparent with both the Client and Design team have been well received.
Close to Completion!
Completion on the CEM Block is imminent and we are delighted that these facilities will be ready for the students to access, when they return from the Summer Break, whilst works will continue to progress on the MV Workshop.
The facilities themselves will also help in the push to decrease the skills-gap we are seeing within the construction industry, by giving the college the accessibility to enrol more students onto construction and engineering qualified courses.
Throughout the project we have built a great relationship with the college and the wider project team, and we look forward to showing the finished build in the near future!
