Fabric Church Project – Manchester
Our team at the Fabric Church – Manchester CCRC project where we are currently refurbishing the famous Ardwick Green Barracks in Manchester, downed tools and stopped at 11am on 11th November.
We honour the brave men of the Manchester Regiment who fought with such distinction at Gallipoli, the Somme and the Western Front.
We owe them such a debt of gratitude because every freedom we enjoy; every quiet moment of peace or joy, is built on their courage and sacrifice.
12 of their number were awarded the Victoria Cross in the First World War alone.
We had the pleasure of welcoming the BBC Radio Manchester team to the Fabric Church site to interview Site Manager, Joe Fowler to discuss the current works and the importance of the building.
The rich history that the building holds is immense and felt it be our duty to honour those who resided in the barracks during the war.
“The barracks wasn’t built for comfort! Whilst it looks impressive on the outside, inside it’s very plain. But like it says on the front, ‘always ready’. If the lads were too comfortable, they wouldn’t have been in shape for action.”
Accrington Town Market Project
The site team at Accrington Town Market & Burton Chambers also showed their respect, standing down at 11am for a two minute silence.
Both projects are housed in buildings full of history and integrity.
It felt especially poignant to pause within these spaces, places that have stood through generations, to remember those who gave everything for the lives we lead today.
Across Krol Corlett, our teams took time to reflect and pay tribute to all who have served and continue to serve.
Lest We Forget.
