A summer refurbishment to the City of Liverpool College (CoLC) involved renovations and alterations to the flagship Learning Exchange Building (LEX).
The LEX is the CoLC building, seamlessly combining old with new amidst the rich architecture offered around the RopeWalks area of Liverpool.
Krol Corlett completed extensive refurbishments including converting the first-floor library, ground floor entrance and administrations were fully revitalised.
Works included alterations to ground and 1st Floor to form additional classrooms, a prayer room and student union break out areas.
The extensive library was relocated to the ground floor and includes work stations and quiet areas for study.
John Ward, Krol Corlett Contracts Manager said:
“The scheme was a great opportunity to upgrade key learning spaces and environments. Our specialist education team worked diligently to transform the spaces, ensuring the new facilities supported the evolving needs of both students and staff.”
Our commitment to excellence, innovation, and the art of delivering inspiring spaces for learning and academic collaboration is our driver.
The team extended working days and weekends to ensure all phased one works were completed prior to students returning early September.
Phase 2 was on time and in line with programme and the return of students from their summer break.
Our team were in constantly communication with our dedicated supply chain partners, sub-contractors and of course client to ensure a smooth and efficent handover.
Krol Corlett are committed to the future of the construction industry and proudly offer a wide range of apprenticeships, work experience and mentorship schemes throughout our schemes – this was no different.
Our team provided essential work experience (see one of the students pictured below) – training was around developing their knowledge and understanding of the sector whilst gaining valuable real-life experience of the construction industry.
The project at CoLC also continues Krol Corlett’s commitment to working with Higher Education facilities after completing successful developments at University of Liverpool, University of Salford, Liverpool Hope University, University of Manchester amongst many others.
