Krol Corlett Awarded £10.5m Phase 2 Works At Accrington Town Market & Burton Chambers with Hyndburn Borough Council.

Project Scope

The two venues mark the first phase of the £70m Accrington Town Centre Masterplan, a landmark regeneration scheme supported by the government.

Krol Corlett will undertake the fit-out of the town’s Market Hall, which will be transformed into a vibrant food and drink destination, and Burton Chambers, set to become a modern 19,000 sq ft co-working hub.

This scheme not only enhances the town’s commercial and social offer but also delivers tangible benefits for the local community through improved public spaces and facilities that will serve Accrington for years to come.

Accrington Market Hall

The project comprises the full fit-out of Accrington Market Hall, including new F&B kitchens, a central bar, market stalls, pergolas and staircase refurbishment. It also delivers new public amenities such as WCs, prayer and ablution spaces, and a sensory room, alongside upgrades to existing kitchens and trader WCs. The works include MEP installations, roof access improvements and wider refurbishment to ensure the building is safe, functional and future-ready.

Burton Chambers

Scope of works includes roofing upgrades; installation of a new staircase and lift; construction of partition walls to form offices and amenity spaces across all floors; full internal fit-out including WCs, kitchenettes and meeting rooms; installation of drainage and power infrastructure; comprehensive fire protection throughout; and wall linings with associated thermal enhancements.

“It’s not every day that you can deliver a project that will have the impact we know this will.

“A key focus for us will be working with the local supply chain to ensure that as much of our contract value as possible stays in the town.

“We want local people to feel that the work is theirs, so we’ll be liaising with Accrington and Rossendale College to identify what scope there is for students to become involved in the project.”
