Earlier this month, we met with local community members, youths and trainees from Bara Management Training to talk opportunities and experiences within the construction industry.

Following this successful session, locally based Izaak (aged 19), has been offered a position – working on our collaborative project with Tiber Community in Liverpool’s Toxteth neighbourhood.

Izaak (pictured centre above on site) said:

“I’m excited about this new role at Krol Corlett and having the opportunity to understand what it means to work in the construction industry”

Simon Krol, Director - Krol Corlett with Stephen Okoro, CEO - Bara Management

Simon Krol added:

“We are delighted Izaak has joined us, he has been a brilliant asset to the team.

In relation to apprenticeships, Krol Corlett currently offers two types – training joiners, as well as providing technical apprenticeships for aspiring quantity surveyors. The apprenticeships are an excellent alternative for University programmes, offering practical training four days under the supervision of industry professionals in the construction sector.”

Sheldon Griffiths, outreach worker and mentor from Merseyside Youth Association commented:

“to see a route for some of our young people, especially marginalised groups, to get experience and potentially careers out of this opportunity, we need to sit face to face like this, where we can demystify the construction industry.

With Simon giving up his time today, our mentees can visualise, realise and see themselves in successful roles within the industry”

Thank you for the collaboration BARA Management &  our client Tiber Community Hub.

We’d also like to thank Liverpool Echo Patrick Graham for covering the news.
