The centre will be refurbished over a 16-week programme with funding from the Reserves Estates Optimisation Programme.

It is one of 10 new Welsh centres being developed as part of the government’s drive to improve the cadet and reserve estate across the UK.

The Bangor Joint Cadet Centre is part of a £1m investment by the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA) for Wales to develop new joint cadet facilities across the country.

Many of our team come from military families and we’re very proud to be playing our small part in helping keep Britain’s armed forces fighting fit.

The logistics of delivering the refurbishment and material movement on a restricted site have taken some planning, but we’re well used to such constraints via our work in the NHS and schools sectors.”

“We are delighted to see works progressing on the Bangor Joint Cadet Centre project with our principal contractor Krol Corlett.

The Reserve Estates Optimisation Programme (REOP) enables us to make targeted improvements across the volunteer estate in Wales, ensuring facilities remain fit-for-purpose and capable of supporting cadet activities for many years to come.”

The Need For A New Facility

Under the Secretary of State-directed Reserve Estates Optimisation Programme (REOP), a number of sites across Wales were identified for development as new shared Joint Cadet Centres.

These works are needed to adapt and improve our estate to ensure we have the right buildings in the right locaations to meet the needs of cadets in the future.

We look forward to building a great relationship with the team as well as growing our portfolio of work in North Wales!
